Fine, clean and tight, scarce first printing of Gerald Durrell's wonderful fantasy for the young adult reader. Sharp bright apple green cloth boards, spine stamped with orange titles, dusting of light speckles to the top text-edge, else fine, the vividly illustrated wrap-around pictorial dust jacket with price intact, light edgewear mostly at tips, two very tiny incipient closed tears to bottom edge of front panel. The author was widely known for his studies of animals, his work to protect them, and his many fine books. This charming, complex children's fantasy adventure is set in Mythologia; 'peopled' by the legendary beasts. This is a beautiful, collectible first printing protected in a new, clear Brodart cover.
