Stated first printing in surprizingly good condition: extremities of pale green linen boards bumped but interior is clean and tight with no marks or writing, charming pink pictorial dust jacket with original $2.50 price intact has significant chips at spine-head and tears at spine, mostly to rear panel. I have mended these on the back with archival book-repair tape and protected the dust jacket in a new, clear Brodart cover. Uchida's previous book for children was titled The Dancing Kettle. This is his second collection of Japanese folktales for children. It contains fourteen more fresh and imaginative stories.
